Dating safely

Most people you meet are exactly who they say. These habits protect you from the few who aren’t.

Never send money to someone you haven't met

Scammers build trust, then ask for help with a bill, a ticket or an investment. Don't send money or gifts to anyone you haven't met in person. If you've already paid, call your bank straight away.

Meet in public and tell someone

Make your first meeting somewhere public. Tell a friend or family member where you're going and who you're meeting. Keep your home address and bank details to yourself until you know someone well.
